In this interview, Merrill takes us on a tour all the way from her seventh birthday party at Flushing to her present day life in St. Albans. Merrill is a care-free, open, and a joyful person. Living life and enjoying what you want to enjoy is what Merrill thrives for. She simply didn’t care for things that don’t interest her. Even though Merrill wishes she could change a few things in her life if she had the chance to, she’s still content with her life. And her parents were okay with it and they never forced her into it. When she was growing up, Jewish girls weren’t mandated to go to Hebrew schools. She notes that it’s more common now that Jewish girls go to Hebrew schools. Merrill’s mother told her that she could either attend college or find work; she didn’t want to work, so she forced herself to attend college. In 1973, Merrill graduated from college, however shortly after in 1974 her father passed away. She went to grad school for six months and immediately dropped out because she simply didn’t like it.
