Nurses would start their shifts by praying their patients wouldn’t deteriorate so quickly. Because family couldn’t visit, they placed all their hopes in the staff. Some older staff decided to retire. But some old-timers stayed on and Thank God they haven’t gotten sick so far. She hasn’t seen much burnout among the staff. The ones who left were those really due to retire. A lot stay out of love for the work and only stop when they’re really sick. Hotel accommodations were available for those who had to quarantine from family. She didn’t use it.
