If you need help, if people need help getting groceries or prescriptions, I'm able to help. And that really kind of took off. So Astoria Mutual Aid Network has just been another way. I'm kind of on the core kind of organizing team for that. Making sure that people in the community-- if they need food, if they need support, if they need a ride to a medical appointment, if they need diapers, if they need housing assistance-- that we either provide direct support or connect them with services in the community, or connect them with people who can help them.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://queenslibrary.aviaryplatform.com/collections/943/collection_resources/114687/file/218051#t=383.0,444.0"},{"id":"https://queenslibrary.aviaryplatform.com/collections/943/collection_resources/114687/file/218051/transcript/62047/annotation/40","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Evie Hantzopoulos: So it's really getting involved in the hyper-local level. Connecting neighbors to people that live close to them that might not have known before, who can give them support during COVID. So that's one thing. And then another thing is-- and this kind of grew out of just previous relationships that I had and people that I knew-- I've been working to support the Lifeline Grocery Project, which was started by Kim Calichio and her husband Omar. Kim runs a business called the Connected Chef and she found herself out of work as restaurants closed and shifted her focus to making sure that families, particularly those who don't qualify for government assistance, have food if they need food. And so every week since almost the beginning I've been delivering groceries primarily in Elmhurst and Corona to families who have lost their jobs or are struggling to buy food for themselves and for their families, delivering groceries to them, but also going as far as I was in Jamaica and Woodhaven last week as well. But mainly I've been doing Elmhurst and Corona. So those are kind of the things that I've been doing. And my family's been helping too. So my daughter comes with me when I deliver. My husband sometimes drives me. Now he's back at the hospital, so he can't really do that anymore. But I think it's important to see what we can do because we both have our jobs, we have a home, we have food, we are privileged in many ways. But we have people in this community who need support, but they contribute to the community as well. We wanna find ways to contribute to their wellbeing at this time when they need it.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://queenslibrary.aviaryplatform.com/collections/943/collection_resources/114687/file/218051#t=444.0,569.0"},{"id":"https://queenslibrary.aviaryplatform.com/collections/943/collection_resources/114687/file/218051/transcript/62047/annotation/41","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Lydia Howrilka: Very good.
