On the more sort of artistic specialized side of things, I do a lot of mixing work myself for various artists, some of them are independent, some of whom are signed and bigger than independent. You know, at the same time in the first couple of days, it wasn't really clear what was really meant by \"shut down.\" It wasn't really clear until three or four days later, it wasn't clear that I could legally stay open as long as I was the only one on site at the studio, and you know, initially for the first day or so, it wasn't even clear, under what circumstances can you leave your house? You know, can I go grocery shopping anytime I feel like it, or is the state going to sort of ration, you know, time slots for that kind of thing? And, you know, business slowed way down, of course, as a result just 'cause no one really has money to spend. I don't regret that for a second and I'm happy to just temporarily adjust my lifestyle to where the current amount of income is fine. I don't regret that for a moment. And so, yeah, it's not quite as full-featured as Source Connect, but there's a little app called Listened To, from a company called Audio Movers. And it lets me just send a stereo wave stream, full bandwidth, uncompressed audio to a client, so they can listen in on a mix if they want. A few clients find that helpful. There's still not really a good way to record together over the internet simultaneously, but it's easy to collaborate asynchronously, you know, in other ways. I do my part of a project, send it out to someone, they do their thing, send it back. Obviously the past couple of weeks, we've all seen the other side of the human equation in Astoria where, you know, Steinway Street becomes a block party. On the one hand, I have a lot of sympathy for business owners who need to make money to pay their rent. You know, policy-wise, it's a little strange that there's been no real detailed rent forgiveness or deferral thing. I mean, pausing evictions for a few months is cool, but that's not a long-term solution. So, you know, I empathize with business owners who are in a tight spot, but it's, you know, I also just definitely have a running list of places who haven't taken COVID seriously, and then I'm just not going to give them my business anymore. And then, yeah, a lot of it is just taking it seriously, putting the mask on, staying home. It's, you know, everyone who takes any step like that contributes to an aggregate result that is much better than it otherwise would have been.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://queenslibrary.aviaryplatform.com/collections/943/collection_resources/114694/file/218053#t=1682.0,1721.0"},{"id":"https://queenslibrary.aviaryplatform.com/collections/943/collection_resources/114694/file/218053/transcript/62061/annotation/62","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Briana Stodden: Yeah, for sure. I have been somewhat concerned when I had to run to Staples the other day for some audio cables and everyone I passed didn't have a mask on and, you know, you gotta do the best you can, I guess. But it's almost like, for me, I feel like it's--I almost want to stay in doors more now than I then was. I mean, not only cause it's hot cause it's July, but you know, it's, I feel like--and it's a natural, normal thing to happen over time, people just start to relax a little bit more and so, you know, you don't want to hold it against them--but I feel like that's when we are even more at risk, I think, when people start to not be as strict with themselves.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://queenslibrary.aviaryplatform.com/collections/943/collection_resources/114694/file/218053#t=1721.0,1770.0"},{"id":"https://queenslibrary.aviaryplatform.com/collections/943/collection_resources/114694/file/218053/transcript/62061/annotation/63","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Jonathan Jetter: Yeah. And I mean, you know, there's encouraging research about the risk of outdoor transmission being really low. I mean, for me, I still pretty much take precautions nonstop, you know, just 'cause I think it's the right thing to do. And you know, so even outdoors, I'll still put the mask on and I'll still keep my distance from people and you know, not really resuming going out to restaurants for outdoor dining yet or anything like that. But you know, I go back and forth, sometimes it's easy to get a little angry at people who are slacking in their behavior. Other times, you know, I have to remind myself that we've asked a lot from people in the last four months, we've asked a whole lot and you know, a lot of people don't have the financial cushion that I have. A lot of people maybe are by themselves and don't have a significant other or a spouse with whom they sort of have someone to at least be quarantined with. You know, there are a lot of people for whom these four months were really isolating and really stressful, and I try to remember that and have empathy for that.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://queenslibrary.aviaryplatform.com/collections/943/collection_resources/114694/file/218053#t=1770.0,1853.0"},{"id":"https://queenslibrary.aviaryplatform.com/collections/943/collection_resources/114694/file/218053/transcript/62061/annotation/64","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Briana Stodden: Very good.
