Everybody did come in and loved it because we had show and tell. And of course that inspires other people. I came in in two weeks before, uh, the middle of August. Um, I was asked to stand in for Marie Howley. She had previous job to do, and I've been here for over 12 years. I went through storm Sandy and every everything else. And, uh, it was a long time, but time just disappeared. When you are having such a lovely group of women and men before Storm Sandy, we had, um, easily eight men who would come in and participate. And instead of sitting in their rooms, they decided to come down and join us. And they were marvelous. I mean, they didn't know a crochet hook from a knitting needles, but at the end one man, his name was Kit. He was making king size bedspreads and loving them. And he just couldn't get enough of it. That was for him. And what we remember, his personality was wonderful, but when he was home, he was baking cakes, bringing them into us as a sharing. So it was a wonderful time. We had a little boy walking. He was 10 years old and he was visiting his grandmother from down south. And he had the responsibility of two little girls. They were his sisters. So grandma said go to the library, get out of the house, go to the library. They walked in and they weren't interested. He was.He's a little 10 year old boy that went to Eileene cause she was older than us. And she sat with him. By the time 12 o'clock came, he had a little sample of his work. I would say four inches by four inches. And he didn't walk outta this room. He floated. He was so thrilled. Couldn't wait to get home. The girls, they went to the other part of the library where the books and magazines were. But they, yeah, it was lovely. I remember also coming here after Storm Sandy, they had the mobile library. We met. We had as many as eight people at a time and we were pushing everybody else out because they made room for us. Down here, they have a committee of, um, Special Olympic children, but they aren't children. They start off with children and they wind up being adults. And um, two Christmases in a row, one Christmas, we made them all shawls. And at their Christmas party, everybody gave a shawl and everybody was just thrilled. The second year we all made hats for all of them and we're talking 40. We're not talking and we're not talking babies. Many of them are adults, but it was really inspiring. They were very happy to get baby things, the Chapel and Home for the aged at Jamaica, in Jamaica estates. They were very happy to get blankets and shawls and things that, because during the winter they're cold and during the summer, the air conditioning makes them cold. So whatever we made was in need. We talk about everything with the discuss, everything. We help each other. If somebody have a problem, special Gloria, because she's very thorough with everything. And she advise some, some people, everything, wherever she, they, they need it or they wanted right now. And we start going, everything. I remember we, we have even church, uh, group, because we don't have a place and Gloria find out everything for us. First time when I come was over here, but something happened. I don't know exactly what, but we find our ourself in the basement of the church, which we get together, nothing change, the same crowd, the same people. And we, we are doing everything wherever we can to, to, to share everything with everybody. Like always. And I think everybody was very happy to see each other every week. Cause this is our life. Some kind of part of our life. We're just doing everything where we can to, to, to help people to advertise ourself wherever we can.
