He recounts an experience where a third-party company at a pickup location would not let him pick up the mail because the man did not think Jagir actually worked for the postal service. He speaks about becoming more involved in the Sikh Cultural Center of Richmond Hill as a result of this change in attitudes. He talks about joning the Richmond Hill Civic Assocation, the Community Council, and Committee Board 8.  He was able to use his involvement in the organizations to educate people on Sikhism and Sikh culture. He is proud that in India there is only 2% Sikhs but during British rule, 37% of the British Indian Army were Sikhs because they are good warriors. This interview was part of the Queens Borough President Helen Marshall's Queens General Assembly documentation project at the end of President Marshall's final term in 2013. The purpose of these interviews was to document both the work of the General Assembly and lives of Assembly members.
