Long Island City has long been a center of artistic activity in New York City and in the past decade, it has been at the center of rapid and transformative development. The Queens Memory Project,in collaboration with LIC Artists Inc., is conducting oral history interviews with artists living and working in Long Island City to further explore their experiences of these changes and the impact they have had in the community. We also interview individuals involved in the community planning, real estate, social and civic infrastructure impacting artists. This project is ongoing and open for new volunteer interviewers interested in contributing to this fascinating collection of personal histories. Contact us to learn how you can get involved.
